The quote above truly defines my driving force. I love helping give a shimmer of hope and care to people when they are having a bad day, week or month -- whenever they are struggling. For me, knowing that I helped change the path that they were on, even if ever so small and only for a moment, makes me want to help more and bring more happiness to others. I'm a woman who has lived and has experienced a lot on my journey. I'm working to bring the knowledge I have to others with the hopes of sharing hope and happiness. Life can get tough, I don't know about all of you, but for me there have been points that have just plain sucked. But, I've made it through sustainable weightloss, cancer, growing up being bullied, low self-esteem, anxiety, learning how to be a good mom, learning how to be in a successful relationship, and so much more. Many of these I am still working on everyday. With each day that passes, I for one get smarter and stronger in my knowledge of how to approach situations in order to have the best (or at least a better outcome) and live towards a more peaceful, satisfying life.
It wasn't until my early forties that I really recognized how much I have overcome in my life. Starting around my late thirties and early forties my anxiety and depression started to became almost unbearable. Thankfully, I recognized quickly that I needed to take steps to find positivity, but it was a long road. I read, listened to podcasts and speakers, and learned how self-talk in a positive manner to get myself there. As I dug myself out of the funnel I fell into for a while, I didn't even know not if anyone realized what I was experiencing. See, I'm sure that most of you will empathize with this - I for one had to "put on a good face" to others and be strong for the people around me. Fact is, I know now they really feel it in some way. It was around this time that I was doing a lot of reflecting on what would have helped make it easier all those years ago. You know, the shoulda woulda coulda's snuck in, but, it helped lead me to creating this amazing platform, so I feel like everything was pushing me to create Jen's Happy Mail.
A person, a show of kindness, someone to help guide with tools, a moment of care; any of these could have changed the path in my darkest moments and perhaps made them a bit easier to bare. This is my goal, to provide resources for people to show "care" and tools that have the potential to help. As I move forward with this platform, I will be working to create additional resources for people to connect using discussion boards and other interactive strategies. I want to be the "person" for other people when they need it most or provide a way to help others feel supported! Feel free to connect with me anytime -- just know I will ALWAYS be a work in progress.
There are times in life that people just need a person to show that they care. That one moment can change the path of a day, week or even year for the other person. It has often been said, "Be kind always, you never know what someone else is going through." After my struggles, triumphs and seeing other people of all backgrounds struggling with high anxiety, stress, depression, and loneliness I knew it was my time to help make a bigger impact. My goal is to bring focus and attention to these issues, provide a bit of Happy in an otherwise stressful world.
This is only the beginning, I look forward to working with you!
